Square Enix Releases Incredible Next-Gen Tech Demo
June 5, 2012Posted by on
Square Enix, publisher of many popular game franchises such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Final Fantasy, just released an incredible new Final Fantasy-based tech demo titled “Agni’s Philosophy”, set to demonstrate in real-time the power of yet-to-be-announced next-gen console hardware. For those who may not be up-to-speed on terms like ‘real-time tech demo’, what you are looking at is 3D graphics and sound being generated on the fly, as they are for any video game. Why is that impressive? Well, 3D movies can take weeks to be fully processed and ready for viewing…and that’s on some of the industry’s most powerful computers! To see this kind of visual quality popping up on-demand in a game running on a single set of hardware is nothing short of incredible.
As of right now, there’s no word on what kind of specifications Sqaure Enix’s demo is targeting, so this may or may not be what we actually end up with whenever a Playstation 4 and Xbox 720 actually do release, but regardless you can be certain there are awesome things in store for us Final Fantasy fans if this is anywhere near what we’ll be seeing on our TV sets a few years down the road.
Note: this is definitely worth watching in fullscreen 1080p, even if your internet connection isn’t terrific and you have to wait a bit for the video to fully load.
